The tax rate, or millage rate, is set annually HOUSING

municipalities. Each governing authority
estimates the total revenue from other
sources. This figure is subtracted from overall
budgetary needs, and then a millage rate is
set that will generate the necessary revenue
to fulfill budgetary requirements. A tax rate
of one mill represents $1 of property tax for
every $1,000 of assessed value.

The cities of Buford, Clermont, Gillsville,
Lula and Braselton do not levy city property
taxes, except there is a 5 mill rate within the
Braselton Community Improvement District
(CID), a self-taxing business district that uses
the tax to finance infrastructure and other
improvements in the designated area.
