CLOUDLAND CANYON
State Park
New Salem
One of Georgia’s largest parks, Cloudland Canyon
State Park, on the edge of Lookout Mountain, boasts
spectacular sunsets, gorgeous panoramic vistas, and
a wealth of flora and fauna. Take in the grandeur
of plunging waterfalls and the elegance of trickling
woodland creeks both working together to carve
1,000-foot-deep canyons and caves along the way.
Popular hiking trails include the short Overlook Trail, the
moderate West Rim Loop Trail, and the more-strenuous
Waterfall Trails. Mountain bikers pedal to the Five Points
Recreation Area and along the Cloudland Connector
Trail. The park also offers disc golf, a fishing pond,
equestrian trails, and overlooks.
Campers can set up in fully equipped cozy cottages
or yurts along with 70+ tent, trailer, and RV campsites.
Backpackers can secure more private overnight options Join Hayrides every Sunday in October, and Star
in the wild. Parties the first Saturday of the month from April to
