Nightlife in Athens is on a level unmatched
in the Southeast. Local bars, gastropubs,
and restaurants such as The World
Famous, the Expat, and others have
been named among the best bars in the
region and the U.S. by the likes of Esquire
magazine and Garden & Gun. Athens’
own Creature Comforts Brewing Co. was
ranked #10 in 2020 on USAToday’s list of
“Best Beer Labels.” The publication also
named Athens as seventh “Best Beer
Scene” in the country.
Creature Comforts joins Terrapin Beer Co.,
which has a presence on shelves around Pauley’s Crepe Bar
the country, and Southern Brewing Co.,
making the Athens area home. Also
brewing in Athens are Athentic Brewing
Company, Akademia Brewing Company,
and Normaltown Brewing Company. The
breweries are on the leading edge of the
craft-brew trend and attract thousands
of visitors to the area each year. For wine
enthusiasts Tapped Athens is Athens’
newest wine tasting market.
