                                                             meals, flours, and mixes ground on the antique grist mills.
                                                             Corn is from the Southeast. Wheat is sourced from Montana
                                                             where the cold climate and soil produce a high protein grain.
                                                             Rye comes from the Midwest and buckwheat from up-state New
                                                             York. The mills keep on grinding as they have for the Holland
                                                             family owners for 38 years!

                                                               The retailer Mountain Crossings is the only place where the
                                                             Appalachian Trail passes through a man-made structure. Built
                                                             in 1937 by the Civilian Conservation Corps, the Walasi-Yi
                                                             Interpretive Center was completed simultaneously with the trail
                                                             and is where the store is located. Mountain Crossings
                                                             is a leading distributor for thru-hikers on one of the world’s
                                                             most famous trails – selling high quality hiking gear to get you
                                                             through an hour on the trail or for eight months, with foods,
                                                             refreshments, and Appalachian gifts.
