Villa Rica is the second largest city in Carroll County. It has its own police
department, an exceptional agency that holds a Georgia Association of
Chiefs of Police certification. The city is governed by a mayor and four city
council members. A city manager and staff operate the city day-to-day.

HISTORICAL HOT SPOT
The North Villa Rica Commercial Historic District earned its place on the National
Register of Historic Places on Dec. 31, 2002. It includes several blocks of buildings
that date back as far as 1875. The Villa Rica Police Department and several antique
stores now inhabit the district. The boundary is North Avenue, East Gordon Street,
West Church Street, and the Southern Railroad line.
