The Whitfield-Murray Historical Society was formed in the 1950s to restore
the historic Vann House in Spring Place, Georgia. Today, the society maintains
several local historical properties that would be in danger of neglect or
destruction otherwise. The Whitfield-Murray History Center – the society’s
headquarters – serves as a repository for historical records and research
material relating to the history of Whitfield and Murray counties.
