Georgia’s Outdoor Corridor

T he spectacular forests, lakes, and streams are a focus of our
way of life with an even bigger reward: one-third of it will
never be developed! Predating modern history, these lands
remember the footsteps of our indigenous people. Ancient
stone has eroded era by era, as one tiny seed opened a
spot in the rock, followed by other seeds. Now millions of years later,
you’re enjoying the forest.
Hike. Bike. We are the gatekeepers for the Appalachian Mountains, living amid
breathtaking views in Eton and Chatsworth. Enjoy the hiking trails,
Fish. Swim. trout streams, and wildlife in the Cohutta National Wilderness,
Paddle. Camp. Georgia’s second largest wilderness area. Plan a multi-generational
camping trip to Grassy Mountain which hosts the highest elevation
Breathe… lake in the state, Lake Conasauga.
Chattahoochee National Forest is unspoiled. Undeveloped.
Occupying a large portion of northeast Murray County, the national
forest covers more than 865,000 acres across 26 counties. Be
soothed by the clear-running streams and rivers flowing past
campgrounds and picnic areas, and approximately 850 miles of trails
that make our Murray County lifestyle, well, natural.
