You don’t have to look far to find artistic
outlets in Kershaw County. From music
festivals to pottery classes, the Arts
Center of Kershaw County (ACKC)
offers an abundance of programs and
experiences to the community. ACKC
Director Leslie Lee wants to keep those
experiences fresh.
Lee, who has a degree in voice
performance from the University of
Connecticut, brings years of experience
to her current position.
One of her first initiatives has been the
rebranding of the arts organization from
the Fine Arts Center (FAC) of Kershaw
County to the Arts Center of Kershaw
County. The name change will also
include a new logo.
She says she believes the ACKC provides
an essential community service for art
education and experiences.
“Art has the ability to bring wonderful
experiences to the community. I enjoy
bringing art to others, and I help do
that through art administration. I think
the arts are a wonderful bridge to all
communities.
“We want a variety of programs such
as pottery classes, music lessons, dance
classes, voice lessons … we try to make
sure we are offering everything the
community would want.”
Extensive planning is involved in
providing the community with an
abundance of offerings.
