Clemson Area African American Museum
The Clemson Area African American Museum
(CAAAM) is housed in the Calhoun Bridge Center,
which was formerly an all-black school. Known as
Calhoun Elementary School, it was the last school
built for African American students in this part
of Pickens County. Along with the CAAAM,
the Calhoun Bridge Center is home to The Arts
Center of Clemson and the Clemson Child
Development Center.
By showcasing historical achievements of local
African Americans, the museum engages the com-
munity in intellectual discussions about the past.
Exhibits highlight different aspects of the African
American life, from culture to religion. Events
including expos, classes and cultural activities are
also offered at the museum. Woodbvrn Historic House
