the road for the 45-minute drive to Pine Warm Springs
Mountain, Georgia.
1 PM - 4 PM
10 AM Meander through Warm Springs for an
Encounter zebras, giraffes and other exotic afternoon of shopping. The town is filled
animals when you drive through Wild Animal with gift boutiques, mercantiles, galleries,
Safari in Pine Mountain. You may even have antique shops, and more. If you’re in the
animals eating right out of your hand! mood for a little more history, visit President
Franklin Delano Roosevelt’s Little White
House, his Georgia home and escape from
the concerns of our nation’s capital. The
entire family can enjoy hiking, horseback
riding, swimming, and more at neighboring
F.D. Roosevelt State Park. If you’d rather
see more of the region after lunch, head
south to Plains, GA, the hometown of
another president, Jimmy Carter. The
Jimmy Carter National Historic site includes
the Plains Depot, a museum to the 1976
presidential campaign, Carter’s boyhood
home, and Plains High School.
Wild Animal Safari 6 PM
Come back to Columbus for a BBQ
12 Noon dinner in an old bus. Country’s Barbecue’s
Have lunch at the Safari Café or drive over Uptown location serves up delicious pork,
to the village of Warm Springs for an authentic chicken and beef in a restored bus station,
Southern lunch served buffet-style. complete with a dine-in bus.
