SBT Spring Concerts have delighted audiences
with ballet classics such as Swan Lake, Les Sylphides,
Cinderella, and Sleeping Beauty, as well as original
and more contemporary ballets such as Rhapsody,
Crayons, Our Father, and Groovy Baby. The Sawnee
Ballet Theatre is especially known
for its annual production of the holiday favorite
The Nutcracker.
The Sawnee School of Ballet is the home base
for the Sawnee Ballet Theatre.
The Sounds of Sawnee Concert Band is one
of today’s premier community bands. The band
is composed of 70 musicians from the north
metropolitan Atlanta area. The band has offered
quality musical entertainment at venues across
North Georgia since 1993, including performances
of regular seasonal concerts at the Cumming
Playhouse and Sexton Hall Enrichment Center. The
musical selections are significantly diverse and
include concert band arrangements, orchestral
transcriptions, marches, and popular musical
selections. The Sounds of Sawnee Concert Band
also includes an 18-member Swing Band that
performs for dances and special occasions.
Among the band’s many distinctions, they
represented the State of Georgia in the National
Community Concert Band Sousa Festival in 2008
where they joined musicians from across the
United States in a combined concert on the steps
of the Jefferson Memorial in Washington, D.C.
