The Colonial Coast Birding Trail
encourages stops at rice plantations
and forts as well as wetlands,
woodlands and tidal rivers to
spot some of the more than 300
bird species documented along
Georgia’s Coast. On the west side
of the state, the Southern Rivers
S the hills of the Georgia Piedmont
Birding Trail winds its way from
southward along major rivers,
eventually terminating in the
Okefenokee Swamp. The 30
sites along the trail provide the
wildlife watcher a broad spectrum
of wildlife viewing experiences.
