General Coffee State Park
Outdoor Fun with a Cultural Twist
Just outside Douglas, General Coffee
State Park radiates Southern charm and
natural beauty. Spanning more than 1,500
acres, this park offers a delightful mix of
outdoor adventure and rich agricultural
history. Explore the Heritage Farm, where
historic log cabins, a corn crib, and a tobacco
barn paint a vivid picture of 19th-century
farm life. Meet friendly farm animals like
goats, pigs, and donkeys. Wander along
boardwalks that wind through cypress
swamps, home to rare pitcher plants, gopher
tortoises, and the elusive indigo snake.
With more than 13 miles of equestrian trails,
cozy cottages, and the elegantly restored
Burnham House for overnight stays, there’s
something for everyone.
Broxton Rocks Nature Preserve is a
hidden gem that boasts a blend of geological
wonders and rich biodiversity. This 3,799-
acre preserve features striking sandstone
outcrops, 30-foot cliffs, and a picturesque
waterfall along Rocky Creek, creating a
landscape reminiscent of the Appalachian
Mountains. Home to more than 500 plant
species – including rare finds like the
green-fly orchid and Georgia plume – and
diverse wildlife such as the gopher tortoise
