of opportunities.
Based on 15 factors with information
gathered from the U.S. Census Bureau,
the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the Tax HOUSING
Foundation, and other sources, Niche.com
ranked Dunwoody #18 on its 2019 list of
the “Best Suburbs to Live in Georgia.” A
quick look at this distinct and interesting
city makes it clear why Dunwoody is often
ranked as one of the top places to live in
the state.
Within its compact 13 square mile area,
DUNWOODY HAS Dunwoody offers the perfect balance of big

Explore all that Dunwoody has to offer – work, play, shop and
enjoy! Are you looking for an urban lifestyle or a small-town feel? If
you live in Dunwoody, you could choose either option! This little gem
of a town, population 45,000, is nestled on the north side of I-285,
known to the locals as the “Perimeter Area.” Some say “all roads to
and from Atlanta lead to Dunwoody.”
During the past 30 years that I have lived here and run my
business, I’ve enjoyed watching the city grow. Dunwoody offers
plenty of homeowner opportunities ranging from single-family
ranches, and two-story houses to condos, townhouses and luxury
homes. There are 5 Gateways in the community, Perimeter Mall,
Dunwoody Village, Williamsburg at Dunwoody, Georgetown and
Winters Chapel, each with its own distinct personality. You will find
great shopping as well as local restaurants like Alon’s Bakery and
Market, Eclipse di Luna, Max’s Coal Oven Pizzeria, McKendrick’s and
Marlow’s Tavern. Check out the Dunwoody Perimeter Chamber for a
full list of restaurants.
You will find bike paths, sidewalks, and numerous parks in
Dunwoody that hold annual festivals and events. One of my favorite
festivals is the annual Lemonade Days held every spring at Brook
Run Park. Proceeds benefit the upkeep of the Donaldson-Bannister
Farmhouse, now a public park and event facility. The City of
Dunwoody and the Dunwoody Preservation Trust work hand in hand
to preserve the property for future enjoyment. Dunwoody Nature
Center’s Butterfly Festival and the stage productions of Stage Door
Players are also not to be missed. No matter what you’re looking for,
Dunwoody has a place for you. MJ Thomas,
