Our labor force and natural resources
have been the driving forces behind ongoing
economic prosperity. A varied selection of
possible industry sites attracts the area’s
industrial economic development targets, and
Georgetown County creates opportunities
that leverage assets beneficial to residents and
outside investors. Target industries include:
Aviation & Aerospace – Georgetown County
benefits from being only 36 miles south
of Myrtle Beach International Airport and
one hour north of Boeing’s new facility
in Charleston. Manufacturers that supply
parts to support the aviation and aerospace
industries will find Georgetown County to
be a good fit.
Metal Working & Advanced Materials –
With more than 6,000 people in the
Myrtle Beach MSA employed in advanced
materials, chemicals and plastics, and
metalworking industries, companies that
locate in Georgetown County have access
to a skilled workforce. Additionally, raw
materials are easily shipped to the Port of
Georgetown, South Carolina’s dedicated
break-bulk facility, ensuring a cost-effective
supply of manufacturing materials.
Wood Products – Georgetown County’s
forest lands, prime location, and skilled
workforce have provided a strong base
for the area’s timber and wood-related
products for almost 200 years.
