Piedmont Athens Regional is one of northeast
Georgia’s largest not-for-profit hospitals. The
359-bed, acute care hospital joined the Piedmont
family in 2016 and features a regional Level II
trauma center, Level III neonatal ICU, urgent care
centers, and an extensive network of respected
physicians, surgeons, and specialists.
Founded by physicians in 1919, the hospital
has garnered national acclaim in patient
experience, comprehensive cardiac care
including open heart and thoracic surgery,
orthopedics, neurosciences, minimally invasive
surgeries, obstetrics and gynecology, pediatrics,
gastroenterology, and oncology.
Accredited by the Commission on Cancer of
the American College of Surgeons for high-
quality cancer care, Piedmont Athens Regional
provides extensive cancer diagnosis and
treatment including a leading-edge radiation

center, a lung cancer screening program, and
a comprehensive breast care program with
a Breast Health Center that provides digital
and 3-D mammogram technology as well as a
dedicated breast surgeon.
