        Former Armory to Become
        Multipurpose Facility for the Town

           A historic structure is getting a makeover in
        Summerville, and the entire community will be
        able to enjoy the final product.
           The renovated building, recently named
        the Rollins Edwards Community Center at the
        Armory in honor of the late WWII veteran and
        Summerville leader, will become a multi-faceted
        community recreation center with opportunities
        for indoor basketball, volleyball, fitness classes,
        art classes, after-school programs, and summer
        day camps. The renovated facility will also
        offer numerous multipurpose rooms that can
        serve a variety of events including business and
        civic group meetings. The entire facility will
        be available to rent for large events including
        wedding receptions and banquets.

           The renovation will cost $4.2 million. The
        town approved construction of renovations in
        March 2018, and the project is expected to be
        completed later in 2018.
