Community Center
Former Armory to Become
Multipurpose Facility for the Town
A historic structure is getting a makeover in
Summerville, and the entire community will be
able to enjoy the final product.
The renovated building, recently named
the Rollins Edwards Community Center at the
Armory in honor of the late WWII veteran and
Summerville leader, will become a multi-faceted
community recreation center with opportunities
for indoor basketball, volleyball, fitness classes,
art classes, after-school programs, and summer
day camps. The renovated facility will also
offer numerous multipurpose rooms that can
serve a variety of events including business and
civic group meetings. The entire facility will
be available to rent for large events including
wedding receptions and banquets.
“ The renovated National Guard
Armory will not only provide residents
with a place to host larger events
such as receptions and indoor
concerts, but it will also provide
a place for indoor recreational
