The Welcome Mat is Out
for You in Summerville
B efore you can sip sweet tea on the
front porch like a true Summerville
native, you have to find the perfect
place that makes you feel at home. Luckily, in
Summerville that’s not difficult to do.
Historic homes surrounded by Spanish moss-
draped trees and quaint shopping areas nearby
make Summerville the ideal Southern town. With
more than 700 buildings listed on the National
Register of Historic Places, you will find dozens
of historic homes and gardens filled with azaleas,
wisteria and camellias that gave Summerville the
name “The Flowertown in the Pines” in 1925.
“Summerville is a very nice area; it has the feel
of small town living while providing all the amenities
you’d find in a vibrant downtown,” reported one
resident recently to Niche.com. “Summerville
also has lovely historical and residential areas all
connected to the cozy main district and vibrant
downtown via sidewalks or short drives.”
