Celebrating Community:


        Thomson-McDuffie’s Signature Festivals of Togetherness
        Each year, the spirit of community shines brightly in Thomson-
        McDuffie through a series of signature events that celebrate local
        culture, shared traditions, and the joy of coming together.

                                                                 Freedom Blast
                                                                 Hosted annually by the Thomson-McDuffie Chamber of Commerce,
                                                                 Thomson-McDuffie County Convention & Visitors Bureau,
                                                                 McDuffie County, and the City of Thomson, the Independence
                                                                 Day Freedom Blast celebration transforms downtown Thomson
                                                                  into a festive gathering space. The event features live music,
                                                                  family friendly activities, a kids play area, and an array of food
                                                                  vendors offering mouthwatering fare. The evening culminates in a
                                                                  spectacular fireworks display. Bring chairs and settle in
                                                                  for an evening that not only honors the nation’s independence but










     Blind Willie McTell Music Festival                           also celebrates the deep bonds that connect this community.

     One of the year’s biggest gatherings, the Annual Blind Willie McTell Music
     Festival takes place each fall at 965 Stagecoach Road NE, Thomson, GA
     30824. Named for Thomson’s own legendary bluesman, this beloved
      outdoor music festival honors McTell’s legacy while spotlighting a dynamic
      lineup of regional and national talent.
      From noon to around 8:30 p.m., music lovers of
      all ages come together to celebrate the sounds that
      connect generations. Bring blankets and chairs
       to enjoy the show comfortably, while food and
       beverage vendors provide a taste of the region’s
       best offerings, including beer and wine. Scan for

                                                                     Camellia City Festival
                                                                     Another highlight of the local calendar is the Camellia
                                                                     City Festival, a lively celebration of Thomson’s proud
                                                                     place along Georgia’s Camellia Trail. Known as the
                                                                      “Camellia City of the South,” Thomson welcomes more
                                                                      than 3,000 attendees each October to this free, family
                                                                      friendly event in downtown. The festival brings together
                                                                      more than 100 local businesses, crafters, artists, and
                                                                      community organizations, transforming the Thomson-
                                                                      McDuffie Government Complex grounds into a bustling
                                                                       marketplace of creativity and connection. Throughout the
