Summerville Medical Center serves Dorchester,
Berkeley, and surrounding communities as part
of Trident Health. In 2024, it opened a Level III
NICU and completed a $67 million expansion,
increasing its capacity to 174 beds – all private
rooms – to meet growing regional demand.

Public Health
The Tri-County Region is served by the South
Carolina Department of Public Health clinics in
Orangeburg (main office), Holly Hill, Summerville,
Moncks Corner, and Goose Creek, offering
immunizations, health education, disease
prevention, home health, family planning, WIC
(Women, Infants, Children) administration,
nutrition services, baby and child healthcare.
DPH also maintains and issues certified copies of
