WCC prepares learners for success
through a range of pursuits including basic
skills, occupational, technical and pre-
baccalaureate programs. Buoyed by a low
faculty-to-student ratio (12:1) and more than
35 programs of study, WCC ensures students
who successfully complete its programs are
prepared to join the workforce or attend
another college or university to pursue a
four-year degree. With an enrollment of
more than 3,300 students in the 2019-2020
academic year, including traditional students
and dual-enrolled students from area high
schools, WCC makes a major impact in
Wilkes and the surrounding counties.
As the area’s major workforce training
organization, Wilkes Community College
plays a significant role in preparing residents
to meet current and future workforce needs.
In 2020, more than 6,200 individuals were
enrolled in workforce and community
education programs. WCC also provides
economic development services to business
and industry, both public and private.
