Cub Creek Park is adjacent to downtown
and holds baseball fields, basketball and
pickleball courts, walking trails, mountain
biking trails, trout fishing, a dog park, and
picnic shelters.
Wilkesboro has been the county seat
since 1778, when Wilkes County was formed.
The town was incorporated in 1847 and
maintains its original layout from more than
200 years ago on the south side of the Yadkin
River, with a courthouse square, Main Street,
and a vibrant downtown.
