Industry Spotlights:

ECMD Building Materials is celebrating 40 years! Based
in North Wilkesboro, this partner in the building industry
provides a world-class supply chain to builders, remodelers,
finish carpenters, and consumers with the materials to complete
simple to large-scale projects. ECMD serves thousands of
customers nationally through 14 locations and is 100 percent
owned by its 1,000 employee-owners.

The Masthead is a Rural Tech Outpost (RTO) created and operated
by NC Tech Paths. An RTO is a modern coworking facility that provides
for professional work, company-sponsored pods for teams of tech talent,
meeting, and community-building spaces for companies large and small, as
well as local freelancers, remote employees, and entrepreneurs. A significant
portion of these individuals will be graduates from technology education
programs sponsored by NC Tech Paths to provide economic mobility for
residents of Wilkes County.
The Masthead is in the heart of historic downtown North Wilkesboro in the
former headquarters of the Wilkes Journal-Patriot. The name honors this local
institution and its proud history within the Wilkes County community.
