in the area, there are nearly 3,000
employees within the health system.
Athens Regional’s medical staff numbers
more than 300 professionals. Athens
Regional serves the 17-county service
area in northeast Georgia, including
Athens-Clarke, Oconee, Oglethorpe,
Madison, Jackson, Barrow, Walton,
Morgan, Greene, Taliaferro, Wilkes,
Elbert, Hart, Franklin, Banks, Stephens,
and Habersham.
Other system affiliates include
Health Plan Select, which offers the
area’s only locally-owned, provider-
operated health insurance plan; Athens
Regional Physician Services, which
assures an adequate number of primary
care and specialty physicians for the
community and allows doctors to focus
on patients rather than on the demands
