The Athens area continually produces

region. About 90 percent of Clarke County
residents have at least a high school
diploma and nearly half, 47.1 percent,
have earned a bachelor’s degree or higher.

state’s flagship university – University of
Georgia – is here, along with Athens
Technical College. Add the students
enrolled at University of North Georgia’s
Oconee campus and Piedmont University’s
Athens campus, and the Athens area is
home to 50,000 college students.
