Union County holds awe-inspiring natural beauty. Here you can soothe
the soul by taking in cascading waterfalls, engaging in world-class
hiking, playing in county parks and witnessing vistas with sunset
       glows over mountains and valleys.

We are along the AT, the Appalachian Trail, and home
to the historic Walasi-Yi Interpretive Center at Neels Gap. It’s the only
place where the 2,189-mile trail to Maine passes through a structure, a
1930s-era stone hostel, hiking outfitter, and gifts station.

Visitors also enjoy the Lake Scan for
       Winfield Scott Recreation Waterfalls
       Area with its swimming beach,
       picnic tables, bathhouse,
       pavilions, and playground, as
       well as the 4,180-acre Lake
       Nottely Reservoir, for which
you can rent boats, jet skis,
       paddleboards and kayaks, or
       bring your fishing gear.
