                      Kendall Mill Village and beyond

                      It’s the name of a multi-year infrastructure improvement
                     project encompassing the areas of many residential streets
                     in the city of Camden’s historic districts and the Kendall
                     Mill Village north of Haile Street by Kendall Lake. The goal
                     has been to upgrade water, sewer and electric infrastructure
                     and place those utilities underground as well as repair and
                     improve sidewalks and streets.
                      The sweeping project, which began in the mill village, reaps
                     rewards today as power lines fade away and new street surfaces unfold along the historic
                     neighborhoods, enhancing the quality of life experience for residents and visitors alike.
                      “The mill village was in the worst shape, so we wanted to fix that area first,” said Camden
                     Public Works Director Tom Couch.
                      The mill area itself is a unique chapter in Camden’s history. The first operating mill in
                     this eastern part of the city is believed to date to the mid-1700s, and different operations
