Internationally acclaimed film festival

returns to Camden each year

Camden is a southern city known for its equestrian roots
-- and that heritage played a strong role in its selection as a
stop for the internationally acclaimed EQUUS Film Festival
WINNIE Winners Tour in 2016 and 2017
The festival, founded in 2013 by Illinois horse breeder Lisa
Diersen, spotlights the creative efforts of those who pay
homage to the horse through films, documentaries, shorts,
music videos and commercials. Works are submitted and
judged by a committee which selects Winnie Award winners
according to divisions. The film productions are then
featured at various tour stops for the festival.
“Because of the huge equine community in Camden and
the support we had ... we figured a film festival would be
a great way to present this. It’s something we felt could
be beneficial for Camden and for filmmakers coming in,”
said Julianne Neal, a film director, editor and producer
and EQUUS Film Festival organizer for Camden.
