picturesque farms, shops, attractions and
a variety of authentic experiences.

Fitzgerald is a quirky small town with wild Burmese chickens in
the street, giant chess board and pieces in the park, opportunities
for boating, birdwatching, biking, hiking, kayaking, fishing,
skateboarding, and a Civil War history that melds the North and
South harmoniously.
Hazlehurst’s Towns Bluff Park and Heritage Center and the
Bullard Creek Wildlife Management Area offer opportunities for deer
and turkey hunting, boating and fishing, canoeing and kayaking,
birdwatching and hiking. Stop to see the 1905 courthouse, which
cost less than $25,000 to build, and The Big House, a community
center and culinary school that started its life as a Greek Revival
home of the early 1900s, also serving as a boarding house, a
restaurant, and a floral shop over the years until it was purchased and
renovated by the county for public use.
