Transform 285/400 will add collector-
distributor lanes on GA 400 at I-285,
reconstruct the Mount Vernon Highway
bridge, and construct a diverging
diamond interchange at Abernathy Road
and GA 400, among other improvements.
In addition to Transform 285/400,
PCIDs are spearheading other
projects including:
• Active management of traffic signals
along corridors of regional significance
• Use of off-duty police officers to direct
traffic at key intersections during high
peak traffic times
• Bicycle implementation strategy
• Design of commuter trails between
corporate campuses
“Last mile” connectivity is a goal for both
PCIDs and the City of Dunwoody, to
encourage walking and cycling as major
modes of transportation, particularly
around the transit stations. The City
is currently acquiring right-of-way to
develop separated pedestrian and bicycle
facilities along Ashford Dunwoody Road
between Hammond Drive and Mount
Vernon Road. Extending non-motorized
transportation options in the Perimeter
area will increase the geographic reach
of the Dunwoody MARTA station. The
City also has plans to make the stretch
of Chamblee-Dunwoody Road between
I-285 and North Shallowford Road more
pedestrian and bike friendly.
