        year-round and take advantage of its expansive operating
        schedule. Back Woods is only closed three days a year,
        otherwise it’s open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. seven days a week.
        Groups – from bachelor parties to corporate outings and
        family hunting trips to youth summer camps – use the lodging,
        meal service and other amenities that make shooting and
        staying on property an effortless and pleasurable experience.

        Morris says one of the best ways to quantify Back
        Woods’ success is through its use of sporting clays.

        “We average about a million-and-a-half clay targets
        annually,” Morris chuckled. “I’d say we’re pretty popular.”


















                                                                               While Back Woods Quail Club is a
                                                                               mainstay for locals and vacationers,
                                                                               the club is becoming increasingly well
                                                                               known outside of the region. It regularly
                                                                               hosts one or two major events each year,
                                                                               which brings hundreds – and sometimes
                                                                               thousands – of competitors and
                                                                               spectators to the area.
                                                                               In 2022, Back Woods Quail is set
                                                                               to host the prestigious National
                                                                               Sporting Clays Association’s U.S.
                                                                               Open. Not only do the club’s events
                                                                               put Georgetown County on the map,
                                                                               but they’re also a boon for the local
                                                                               economy, Morris said.

                                                                               “These events are huge for the entire
                                                                               county and Georgetown,” Morris said.
                                                                               “The competitors and their teams eat
                                                                               at our local restaurants and book all
                                                                               of the motels solid.”
