DRIVER’S LICENSE
A Georgia driver’s license should be
secured within 30 days of establishing
residency in the state. A written exam and
vision test are required for persons having
a valid out-of-state license. For questions,

Driver Services (DDS) automated number:

VEHICLE REGISTRATION
New residents must register their
vehicles within 30 days of establishing
residency in Georgia. A Georgia driver’s
license must be obtained before registering
your vehicle. Driver’s license must show
proof of county residency. If you are moving
from another county, you must update your
driver’s license before registering the vehicle
in Jackson County.
Georgia liability insurance is required to
be transmitted to the state’s database by your
insurance company to register your vehicle.
The vehicle must be covered by liability
insurance or a lapse in coverage penalty will
apply. If you cancel the insurance, you must
also cancel the registration.

MARRIAGE LICENSE
To obtain a marriage license, both
applicants must be over the age of 18 and
must be present at time of application. One
form of identification must be presented:
valid driver’s license, certified birth certificate,
passport or other identification card
containing date of birth. License will be
issued at time of application. Blood tests are
no longer required.
