Hurricane Shoals

The Hurricane Shoals area near Maysville is an historical
gem that, in the past 27 years, through the efforts of the
County Commissioners, the Tumbling Waters Society,
Jackson County 4H and many dedicated citizens,
is a treasured place. The Tumbling Waters Society
of Jackson County is devoted to preserving
and promoting the history of Hurricane
Shoals. This group constructed the
amphitheater at Hurricane Shoals
Park and reconstructed the grist
mill on the site of the old power plant.
The mill operates during the fall, grinding
many bushels of corn and selling the
grain onsite.
The park has a Heritage Village featuring historic
buildings relocated from all corners of Jackson County
and is the site of the annual Art in the Park Festival. History
buffs will enjoy the variety of vendors and historical
reenactments during this event. In addition to exploring
