                                                                                  Belmont Trolley – Almost On-Track
                                                                                    Ding! Ding! Belmont Trolley is restoring
                                                                                  history with a modern twist. The nonprofit
                                                                                  organization has three historic trolley cars – two
                                                                                  operational and one being restored – that will
                                                                                  offer visitors new ways of commuting through
                                                                                  downtown Belmont. Its future trolley barn
                                                                                  will host events, educational programs and a
                                                                                  museum celebrating Gaston County’s heritage.
                                                                                    In partnership with UNC Charlotte’s William
                                                                                  States Lee College of Engineering, Belmont
                                                                                  Trolley has developed a sustainable battery
                                                                                  system to power the fleet of trolleys. Phase I
                                                                                  will deliver an open-air pavilion and prepare
                                                                                  infrastructure for the trolley’s future operation.
