HISTORY
Nestled in the North Georgia Mountains, Pickens County is full of
rich history. The county has been home to Native American tribes and
English settlers, seen the Georgia Gold Rush, the Industrial Revolution
and contributed soldiers to the Civil War. Explore our interesting history
in museums and by visiting our eight locations on the
National Register of Historic Places.
The first marble quarries
