The farm was one of the largest
resettlement projects in the nation and
the largest in North Carolina and one of
only 15 African American projects in the
nation. Settlers on the Tillery Farms Project
were initially loaned land, a home, tools,
and livestock for three years, after which
they were granted a title to the land and
allowed to pay a loan over the next 40 years
to become landowners. These landowners
changed the social landscape of this former
plantation region and were the first step in
challenging the racial injustices of the time.

Study the supernatural at the
Cryptozoology and Paranormal Museum
where you can explore the paranormal and
examine artifacts on such myths as Bigfoot,
UFOs, and lake and river “monsters.”
After a walk through the museum, take
a thrilling, chilling walking or ghost tour
through the heart of the historic district in
Littleton. The area’s history dates back to the
Revolutionary War, and the tour includes
historic landmarks and homes dating back
to 1739. Learn history, listen to a ghost story
or two, and enjoy a brief lesson in using
standard ghost hunting equipment.
The Museum is open 1-7 p.m. and tours
generally start at 7 p.m.
