INTERNATIONAL FESTIVAL & DRAGON BOAT RACES
The Rotary Club of Peachtree City hosts the annual event
celebrating the rich history of dragon boats, which dates back
more than 2,000 years. Today it is one of the fastest-growing
water sports globally, with a world championship held annually
in Hong Kong since 1976. Picture an elongated canoe with a
dragon’s head carved in the front and about a dozen people
sitting side by side, paddling furiously to beat their opponents
in a race. Put dozens of teams in one competition and you
have the Dragon Boat Festival races in Peachtree City. The
event features entertainment and multiple categories, awards
and prizes. It all benefits local charity Southside Support,
which promotes education, training, support, and inclusion
opportunities for families and individuals with special needs in
the South Metro Atlanta area. Go to ptcdragonboats.org.
HISPANIC HERITAGE FESTIVAL
The Hispanic Heritage Festival at Drake Field is a free
community event featuring dance performances, local
vendors selling folk art and jewelry, and food trucks making
the best in Hispanic cuisine. Live music from a mariachi band
accompanies a DJ who keeps the party hopping with music
throughout the day. A kid’s zone with crafts, face painting and
kids entertainment is also a staple at the festival.
ITALIAN HERITAGE FESTIVAL
The Italian Heritage Festival comes to Peachtree City’s Drake
Field in October. Hosted by Borgo Italia Authentic Italian
