Riverside’s mission is to prepare ethical young

Elachee Nature Preschool
The Elachee Nature Preschool is a
private, tuition-based program managed
and operated by Elachee Nature Science
Center in Gainesville. The students highlight
each day with guided exploration and play
along the trails and streams of the 1,440-
acre Chicopee Woods Nature Preserve and
grounds of the Elachee campus.

Partners in Education
The Partners in Education Program is an
invaluable cooperative effort of the Greater
Hall Chamber of Commerce, Gainesville
City Schools, and Hall County Schools. The
mission is to establish and foster a volunteer
cooperative relationship between the school
and business/industry through mutual
adoption of one another and to support and
enrich the school and students.
Some 300 businesses participate in the
Partners in Education program in partnership
with schools throughout the two systems.

COLLEGES & UNIVERSITIES
Brenau University
Founded in 1878, Brenau enrolls
some 3,500 students in graduate and
undergraduate studies on campuses and
online. The Gainesville-based liberal arts
institution, which includes the residential
Brenau Women’s College, also operates
campuses in Augusta, Norcross and Fairburn
as well as Jacksonville, Florida.
In Gainesville, Brenau’s operations expand
beyond the 50-acre central campus in the
historic section of the city, to the Brenau East including 14 nationally competitive varsity
campus at Featherbone Communiversity
near I-985, and the Brenau Downtown Center
on the town square. Brenau renovated the
Downtown Center to be the home for a world-
class doctoral program in physical therapy
and other healthcare professions. Brenau
East houses the schools of nursing and
occupational therapy which includes a clinical
doctoral program, with plans for a clinical
occupational therapy doctorate in the future.
Key features at Brenau East include a state-
of-the art human simulator laboratory, dance
studios, classrooms, an auditorium
and an impressive year-round display of
unique works of art from the university’s
permanent collection.

Gainesville City School Students
Brenau consistently ranks as one of the E D U C AT I O N
best higher education values in the Southeast
in the U.S. News & World Report guidebook,
America’s Best Colleges and The Princeton
Review. The Chronicle of Higher Education and
the Atlanta Journal-Constitution rank Brenau
highly on their annual lists of best workplaces.
Various academic programs receive a wide
range of accolades as well.
Academic units at Brenau fall under
four colleges: College of Business & Mass
Communication, College of Education,
College of Fine Arts & Humanities and College
of Health Sciences. In addition to the three
doctoral programs, Brenau offers a Master
of Fine Arts in Interior Design, the highest
degree available in that profession, as well
as a range of master’s, bachelor’s, associate
degrees and professional certifications in
more than 50 areas of study.
The Women’s College provides a full range
of academic and extracurricular experience,
sports, national sororities, honor societies and
outlets for artistic expression and community
service. Brenau students and members of
the community also enjoy year-round art
exhibitions, lectures and literary readings, and
performances of theatrical and musical works.
It also includes an Early College program
for qualified high school-age students
who, during a three-year enrollment cycle,
can acquire enough credits to receive the
university’s Associate of Arts degree as they
complete requirements for their high
school diplomas.
