St. Mary’s was Athens’ first hospital.
Founded in 1906, it has been a Catholic
healthcare system since 1938 and today
is part of Trinity Health, one of the nation’s
largest Catholic healthcare ministries. St.
Mary’s has grown to include:
• 196-bed St. Mary’s Hospital on
Baxter Street in Athens
• 56-bed St. Mary’s Sacred Heart
Hospital in Lavonia
• 25-bed St. Mary’s Good Samaritan
Hospital in Greensboro
All three hospitals offer emergency
care, surgical services, inpatient care,
advanced diagnostics, and outpatient
