services, an extensive range of cardiac
services, advanced stroke care with 24/7
mechanical thrombectomy capabilities,
and inpatient rehabilitative medicine.
In recent years, St. Mary’s introduced
minimally invasive neurointerventional
biplane technology to the Athens area
and upgraded the hospital’s surgical
robotic capabilities. Biplane technology
allows for minimally invasive treatment of
aneurysms, blood vessel malformations,
strokes caused by large-vessel blood clots,
and other life-threatening conditions.
Services are now available 24/7 for stroke
patients who need emergency blood
clot removal.
As a non-profit, Catholic healthcare
system, care at St. Mary’s is available to all
who need it, with programs to assist the
uninsured and under-insured as part of
the system’s mission and core values.
A major part of the growing St. Mary’s
system is St. Mary’s Medical Group, which
provides primary and specialty care with
more than 70 employed physicians and
nurse practitioners in locations across
Northeast Georgia.
