services. In addition, St. Mary’s in Athens
offers critical care and mother/baby
services, an extensive range of cardiac
services, advanced stroke care with 24/7
mechanical thrombectomy capabilities,
and inpatient rehabilitative medicine.

A major part of the growing St. Mary’s
system is St. Mary’s Medical Group, which
provides primary and specialty care with
more than 70 employed physicians and
nurse practitioners in locations across
Northeast Georgia.
• St. Mary’s is the first hospital in Georgia
certified by The Joint Commission as a
Thrombectomy-Capable Stroke Center.
• St. Mary’s Breast Health Center is the
first of its kind in the Athens region to
be certified by both the National Quality
Measures for Breast CentersTM Program
and the National Accreditation Program
for Breast Centers.
• All three St. Mary’s Hospitals received
American Heart Association/American
Stroke Association Get With the
Guidelines- Stroke Quality Awards
in 2022.
• St. Mary’s Hospital is also accredited
as a Chest Pain Center with Primary
Percutaneous Coronary Intervention,
the gold standard for heart attack care
by the American College of Cardiology.
• St. Mary’s Center for Rehabilitative
Medicine is accredited by the
Commission on Accreditation of
Rehabilitation Facilities.
