             RECREATION & SPORTS
The Classic City holds a new outdoor
adventure around every corner and has
something for nature lovers and sports
buffs alike. Athens is home to phenomenal
athletic leagues for all ages, miles of hiking
and biking trails, and some of the finest
        golf courses in the South.

        The annual Athens Orthopedic Clinic
Twilight Criterium occurs in late April.
This is the pinnacle of criterium racing
in the United States. A criterium race is
shorter in circuit, dedicated off-road or on
closed-off inner city streets. Cyclist teams
from around the nation and participating
countries race through the Athens streets.
Meanwhile, there’s a block party where the
bars and restaurants are bustling, and live
music drifts over the streets that come alive
with spectators cheering on the amazing
        cycling vibe. Info: athenstwilight.com
