THE ST. SIMONS LAND TRUST
The nonprofit community
organization is committed to
preserving greenspace and
important natural habitat on St.
Simons Island by protecting land
from high-density development
and the destruction of historic and
environmental values. Since it was
founded in 2000, it has conserved
more than 1,100 acres on the island
and continues to fulfill its mission
with the support of a loyal and
generous donor base and strong
business partnerships.
ONE HUNDRED MILES
Named for Georgia’s 100 miles of
coastline, One Hundred Miles is a
coastal nonprofit based in Brunswick
that works to protect and preserve
Georgia’s coast through advocacy,
keeps Isles pristine education, and citizen engagement.
The organization advocates for the
protection of coastal resources at
the local, state, and federal levels.
CENTER FOR A
SUSTAINABLE COAST
The Center for a Sustainable Coast
was formed in 1997 by a group
of like-minded environmental
professionals and concerned
citizens. The nonprofit envisions
a region where environmental
interests are properly represented
and seeks to improve responsible
use, protection, and conservation of
Coastal Georgia.
ALTAMAHA RIVERKEEPER
The Altamaha Riverkeeper is a
grassroots organization dedicated
to ensuring swimmable, drinkable,
fishable waters for all in Georgia’s
largest watershed: the Altamaha
River and its tributaries – the
Ocmulgee, the Oconee, and the
Ohoopee rivers.

SATILLA RIVERKEEPER
The Satilla Riverkeeper organization
seeks to protect, restore, and
educate about the beautiful and
ecologically important Satilla River,
a free-flowing blackwater river that
empties into the Jekyll Sound on the
south end of Jekyll Island.
GEORGIA SEA TURTLE CENTER
The Georgia Sea Turtle Center on
Jekyll Island is Georgia’s only sea
turtle education and rehabilitation
facility. It provides the public a
chance to learn about sea turtles
and see the rehabilitation in action.
Visitors can get up close and
personal with live sea turtles that
are being nursed back to health
for eventual release back into the
Atlantic Ocean.
GEORGIA DEPARTMENT
OF NATURAL RESOURCES
The Georgia DNR is a state entity
tasked with sustaining, enhancing,
and conserving Georgia’s natural,
historic, and cultural resources
while recognizing the importance
of promoting the development
of commerce and industry using
sound environmental practices.
Brunswick is the headquarters
of the Coastal Resources Division,
and home to outposts of other
DNR divisions.
JEKYLL ISLAND AUTHORITY
The Jekyll Island Authority, a state
entity that oversees operations on
the state-owned island, operates
conservation and wildlife research
programs to promote environmental
stewardship of the island to enhance
sustainability and guest experiences.
