Campbell Street Corridor

         Discover the warmth and affection
                 of our diverse cultures.

This historic district was once home to many
African Americans who contributed to the community
and culture of Camden in extraordinary ways.
Anchored on the north by Boykin Park and on the
south by Cedars Cemetery, the area once dominated by
Lang Plantation and Mather Academy became home to
many middle and upper middle class African Americans.
Here lived craftsmen who built many of Camden’s
finest homes, churches and commercial buildings.
Others worked to ensure the success of Camden’s grand
winter resort hotels and our amazing equine industry.
