NAVAL MUSEUM AT
PORT COLUMBUS
You can still smell the charred wood 155 years
later of the two original Civil War military
vessels dredged up from where they burned
on the Chattahoochee River. Step into a
reproduction exhibit of the USS Hartford
and CSS Albemarle. By telling the little-
known stories of the navies of the Civil War,
the museum connects people with the past,
giving them a better sense of place and time.

Fort Benning
MANEUVER CENTER OF EXCELLENCE
Fort Benning has served as the Home of the Infantry since 1918, transforming into the
Maneuver Center of Excellence in 2005. Since World War I, its mission has been to
“produce the world’s finest combat infantrymen.”
