Get active at Columbus’ many parks and
recreational facilities. Run through the spraying
waters at the Riverfront Splash Pad. Take a
swing at the Cooper Creek Tennis Center. Toss
a disc around at Dinglewood Disc Golf or Flat
Rock Park. Or just grab the family and go for
a picnic.

Experience nature up close and personal at Oxbow
Meadows Environmental Learning Center. See if
you can spot the queen bee in an observation bee
hive, watch the American alligators swimming in
the enclosed pond or spot wildlife while hiking the
wetland trails. Children and parents alike will be
fascinated by the center’s reptiles, amphibians, fish
and other live exhibits. Admission is free, some
programs do require a fee; donations help maintain
and expand exhibits. (outdoors only)

Museum at Port Columbus
DO: EXPLORE THE USS HARTFORD
It was on this ship that Admiral Farragut famously
damned the torpedoes at the Battle of Mobile Bay. A
recreated berth deck, wardroom and captain’s cabin are
displayed and are frequently used in living history at the
