The lake includes Lake
Wateree State Park, a
large bird refuge. It’s
known for some of the
best fishing in South
Carolina. You’ll find
largemouth bass,
striped bass, white
perch, white bass,
crappie, channel catfish, blue catfish,
shellcrackers and bream. Wildlife that call Lake
Wateree home include deer, fox, squirrel, turtle,
dove, turkey, alligator and various species of duck,
hawk, eagle, egret, heron and osprey.

Lake Wateree is less than a half-hour drive from
downtown Camden.

Fees:  None (except Lake Wateree State
       Park)

Hours: For safety, daylight hours only

Crowds: Light during the week, very busy on
             the weekends

Facilities: Most public access areas do not have
             restrooms, but many marinas and gas
             stations nearby

Mobility: Most public access areas are suitable
             for those with mobility impairments
