On The Trail
Tate’s Trail is the longest trail system in the Carolina Sandhills
National Wildlife Refuge. This trail offers the most remote and
quietest hike in this guidebook. Go during the week and you’re nearly
guaranteed to have the entire hike to yourself and won’t hear any
traffic on the nearby Visitor’s Drive. You’ll visit three beautiful lakes,
walk through pine forest and see large and small waterfowl along the
way.
