           Dorchester County and the state boast some of
         the most cost-effective business locations in the
        nation. Corporate incentives and affordable land
        prices minimize start-up costs and help make
        companies profitable from the start, and utility
        providers also work to reduce costs via competitive
        rate structures for industry. The state’s pro-business
         tax structure, along with low labor and utility costs,
         help ensure long-term success.
           Dorchester County offers sites and buildings
        suitable for a variety of industrial and commercial
        purposes, including Pine Hill, Winding Woods, and
        Ridgeville commerce parks; and Eastport and McQueen
        industrial parks. Foreign Trade Zone (FTZ) 21 is easily
        accessible from Charleston’s Port and provides a
        variety of benefits to those businesses engaged in
        commerce outside of United States borders.

        industries moving to Dorchester County, and the full
        spectrum of benefits and advantages can be obtained
        by contacting the Dorchester County Economic
        Development (DCED), which is an arm of Dorchester
        County Government, and is responsible for the
        recruitment and retention of business and industry in
        the county. The DCED team can provide experienced
        assistance with diverse economic development
        needs, from site selection consulting to identifying
        incentive opportunities.
