Businesses that have chosen Orangeburg
County include Holcim (US), Inc. cement
company, Husqvarna, Zeus Industrial
Products, Koyo Corp. of America, and
Allied Air Enterprises.
The Orangeburg County Development
Commission works closely with the County
of Orangeburg and City of Orangeburg
to attract new businesses and industries
to what is referred to as the Global
Logistics Triangle.
Towns in eastern Orangeburg County
include Bowman, Elloree, Eutawville,
Holly Hill, Santee, and Vance. The Town
of Branchville, in the western portion of
Orangeburg County, has the Branchville
Railroad Shrine and Museum, the oldest
railroad junction in the world.
Berkeley County
Adjacent to Charleston, S.C., Berkeley
County is the third largest county in
the state. With a population of more
than 235,000, Berkeley County has
experienced enormous growth in
the last 50 years. Today the county
is a mix of quality land, suburban and
rural development.
Visitors and residents unwind at Lake
Moultrie, Lake Marion, hunt on 210,000
acres of Wildlife Management Areas, and
watch for everything from nesting bald
eagles to blue herons strolling in the
swampy rice fields.
The Cooper River Corridor within
Berkeley County has emerged as a
principal industrial location for the
Charleston metropolitan area. Some of
Berkeley County’s corporate citizens
include Amoco, Bayer, Nucor, Quoizel,
and Google. Agriculture, forestry, and
eco-tourism also play major roles in
the county’s economy.
Sections of Berkeley County relevant
to the Tri-County Region include the
unincorporated areas of Cross and
Nelson Hill, while nearby Moncks Corner
serves as the county seat.
